This report will demonstrate the use of requency tables/histograms, bar charts, pie charts, line charts, and scatter plots. Data found on the StatPro CD, in the file 2_1.xls.

Someone contemplating his chances at getting a job at Beta Technologies, Inc., might be interested to see the prior experience of people currently working for the company. The frequency table below does the job of telling him this.

Although the above table contains all the necessary information, the below histogram makes it easier to interpret the information.

 

The potential applicant might want to further analyze the data on current employees, to better estimate his chances.

The bar chart below show the ages of current employees.

The potential applicant might further be interested in the number of man vs. women in the company.

He may also want to see the relationship, if any, of the number of years spent at the company and the annual salary. For this, he could use the two line charts below.

The two charts show the potential applicant, that on the long-run, as experience grows, salaries grow.

For further investigation, he might want to produce a scatter plot showing the age and salary of employees, much like the one below.

This scatter plot shows, that as employees get older, they tend to make more money.

The above graphic representations of data make it much easier to convert them into information, and act on them.
